Callaway Nabors and Emma Reeves Honored By Shamrock Bank

Callaway Nabors and Emma Reeves of Durant High School have been selected as the Shamrock Bank Impact Athlete and Performing Arts Students of the month for February 2025.

A senior, Callaway participates in three sports at DHS.

A three year starter on the varsity basketball squad, though undersized, Nabors has been an effective presence in the post  by providing defense, rebounding and scoring.

He has averaged six points a game the past two seasons and has scored in double digits ten times. In the senior day game against Coweta, Callaway scored nine of his ten points in the decisive fourth quarter of a 47-43 victory.

Durant head basketball coach Aaron George is impressed with his fearless play on the court.

“I’ve never seen him back down from anyone, “George said. “I think his heart weighs more than his body weight does.  He really plays hard and brings a lot of hustle to the team.  He is also well liked by his teammates and is just a good young man.”

Callaway said he loves playing basketball for Coach George and his fellow Durant Lions teammates, who he called his best friends.

When basketball is done, he transitions to golf and to track, where he is a pole vaulter

At home in the classroom, Nabors has compiled 4.0 grade point average and is a member of the Oklahoma and National Honor Society. He also received The Principal’s Citizenship Award

In addition,  the past two years, Callaway has taken concurrent classes at Southeastern Oklahoma State University where has applied for the honors program with an eye on accounting as a possible field of study.

In his free time, Nabors likes to work summers with his dad installing boats.

Callaway’s parents are Karissa and Dane Nabors. He has one brother, Zander.

Senior Emma Reeves is a highly honored member of the DHS choir, an accomplished dancer and a tireless volunteer in the community.

Her musical achievements are numerous. Emma has participated in the OKMEA regional Circle the State five years, All District honor choir four years, OKMEA all state honor choir three years, the OCDA two years and Southwest American Choral Directors Association in Oklahoma City and Denver,CO.  She was also selected as the DHS Choir’ Homecoming candidate .

On stage, Emma has been a member of  the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival for 14 summers and has performed with a combined discipline of jazz, tap, ballet and contemporary style of dance for 15 years.

Extremely active in school, she is a member of Key Club and has volunteered to help welcome teachers back for the school year, decorating for Homecoming, Christmas activities at REL Early Childhood and helped with the Kiwanis Annual Easter Egg hunt.

She also participates in HOSA where she helped deliver gifts to the residents of a local nursing home and qualified for state competition in Physical Therapy, last year.

As for volunteering, Emma helped the Durant Indian Educations Back To School School Supply event, by distributing supplies to individuals and she also volunteered last year to be a week-long counselor for 6th grade students at Camp Goddard.
In addition, she currently helps one day a week as a dance assistant for an after school tap class, is the Social media manager of Durant Choirs and was elected to be the Choir Homecoming Queen Candidate and was chosen for the Top five!

Emma has recorded a 3.979 grade point average and her future plans are to attend the University of Arkansas as a Biology major on the Pre-med track.

She is the daughter of Lisa Reeves and the late Mark Reeves. Her brothers are Taylor Reeves and wife Callie, of South Carolina, and Seth Reeves and wife Sandi, of Sherman, TX.
