Raelynn Clark and Victoria Langley of Durant High School have been selected as the Shamrock Bank Impact Athlete and Performing Arts Students of the month for September 2024.
Raelynn participates in track and fast pitch softball at DHS.
In the spring, Clark, a senior, competes in the 4 x 1, 4 x 2, and 4 x 4 events in track. That follows the fall fast pitch softball season, where she is another in the long line of excellent centerfielders who have patrolled the outfield for the Lady Lions. In addition to being a defensive standout , Raelynn has consistently improved at the plate during her two years as a varsity starter.
She was named honorable mention all-district as a junior hitting .290. This season, she entered the closing weeks batting .328 and the team leader in hits (21), doubles (5), triples (2), home runs (4), runs batted in (21) and walks (12).
“Raelynn Clark is a phenomenal outfielder,” Durant softball coach Jimmy Wyrick said. “She has learned to have a strong appearance at the state, hits the ball hard and finds a way to put the barrel on the ball.”
“I’m very proud of the player that she has become during my two years here. You hate to see kids like Raelynn Clark go. I can’t say enough good things about her. I love her to death.”
Clark’s success at the plate and ability to track down fly balls in the outfield have attracted interest from college coaches. She plans to continue playing softball at Carl Albert Junior College in Poteau and will begin her course work for a career in Criminal Justice where she would like to “get a job in a big city and work on crime scenes.” An excellent student, Raelynn has recorded a 3.6 grade point average during high school.
Raelynn’s father is Roger Clark and mother is Amanda Hall. She has one brother Kayden Clark and three sisters Adrianna, Payton and Zayda Clark.
Victoria Langley is a very talented and highly decorated senior.
She plays trumpet and is the head drum major of “The Pride of Durant “band along with being a member of the DHS symphonic and jazz band. Langley has twice received a state superior rating in Ensembles, one state superior rated in the Solo category and placed first in the All-district Jazz Ensemble.

In addition, she received the outstanding drum major award and solo conducting competition champion at TMALA (Texoma Marching Arts & Leadership Academy).
“Victoria is a fine young lady,” Durant High School Band Director Chris Gregg said . ” Her smile and personality are contagious. Miss Langley understands scheduling demands and the overall vision of our production. She is a model of preparation, follow through and consistency for our younger students.”
A 4.0 student, Victoria has qualified for the National Technical Honor Society and is very involved on campus honing her leadership skills as an officer in the Key Club and HOSA, a group of future health professionals.
She also manages to find time to volunteer at Victory Life Church and hold down a job at Main Street Barbecue in Durant.
Langley’s future plans include attending the University of Oklahoma with her sights set on a degree in Nutritional Sciences.
Victoria’s parents are Aimy Scott and Eric and Tiffany Langley. Her siblings are Emily Gregg and Joel, Haley, Emerson and Charlea Langley. Joel was the Shamrock Bank Impact Athlete of the Month for September 2023.
