Jared Avalos and Hannah Williams of Durant High School are the March 2026 Shamrock Bank Honorees as “Impact Athlete “and “Performing Arts” students of the month.

Jared is four-year starter for the Lions varsity baseball team and manned right field in last springs’ regional tournament win at Collinsville that locked down the schools first trip to the Class 5A state tournament since 2017. Avalos came up big in the 4-0 state clincher versus the home standing Cardinals going 2-3 at the plate while scoring one run and knocking in another.
For his play ,as a junior, he was named honorable mention all-district in 5A- 4 and has twice been selected for the Champion of Character Award.
This year, Jared has been moved to left field and is making the transition nicely. At the plate, he has responded by hitting a robust .372 with 13 run batted in. He has also reached base twelve times via seven walks and a team-leading five hit by pitch.

“Jared Avalos is an important piece of our lineup and this team’s success,” DHS varsity head baseball coach Jimmy Wyrick said. “The value Jared brings to our team as a player, leader and person is irreplaceable. He is a great young man.”
Avalos is active in school and is stellar straight-A student who has recorded a 4.412 weighted grade point average. He is member of the DHS media team and the student council which led to him being named the President of the Oklahoma Association of Student Councils.
In addition, Avalos is a member of the Oklahoma and National Honor Societies along with being honored as a Student Ambassador and the Outstanding 11th grade Male. Outside of school, he serves the community by umpiring for Bryan County Sports.
Avalos is unsure of his college destination. However, he is considering studying business. Jared’s parents are Vanesa and Alberto Avalos.
Hannah Williams is a member of the DHS Varsity Mixed Choir and a Varsity cheerleader.

Hannah has been in choir for eight years while taking vocal lessons from Deborah Clements. She was selected to all-district and all-state choir along with being a member of the SWACDA (Southwestern American Choir Directors Association).
In addition, Williams participated in the Durant High School productions of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” and “Annie.”

In her first and only year on the cheer squad, Hannah qualified for All American at the ACA cheer champ. She also performed as a DHS Sparkler her freshman through junior years.
An accomplished student, Williams was in the Quest program (advanced placement) throughout elementary and intermediate school and continued with AP classes throughout middle & high school.
She has compiled a 3.6 grade point average and anticipates attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant to pursue major and minor degrees in Communication.
Hannah’s parents are Brandon and Tarrah Williams. She has one brother, Hayes.
